ORTMAN PETITE SIRAH WINS "BEST OF CLASS" IN L.A.
June 20, 2010—Our 2007 Petite Sirah from Wittstrom Vineyard was awarded a Gold Medal for Best of Class at the 2010 Los Angeles International Wine Competition. It topped the category of “Petite Sirah $15 and up.” Winemaker Matt Ortman has long been a fan of Petite Sirah, and he jumped at the chance to make it when fruit from Wittstrom Vineyard became available. This vineyard occupies an ideal site for Petite Sirah, yielding a wine that is big yet elegant with lusciously intense flavors.

Though Chuck Ortman started making wines in Napa, he always remembered a chardonnay he made with Central Coast grapes. Today, he and son Matt Ortman run Ortman Family Wines in Paso Robles.
